Let's Go Birding Together

The arrival of June marks Pride Month for the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and other sexual orientations and gender identities) community. Celebrations in New York City include pride parades, picnics, parties, and, in the case of NYC Audubon, bird outings!

Let's Go Birding Together walks are for everyone who loves birds and the outdoors. We welcome the LGBTQ+ community, allies, families, and anyone who wants to enjoy an outdoor experience that is inclusive. Why do we do this? Because the outdoors has not always been a welcoming place for LGBTQ+ people and NYC Audubon wants to help change that.

Pride and Birding in Central Park 2022

Thank you to all who joined us for our 2022 Let's Go Birding Together outing in Central Park on June 25, 2022 in collaboration with our friends at Feminist Bird Club and National Audubon Society. It was thrilling to celebrate Pride Month and spread the joy of birds in the park together with guides Angie Co, Martha Harbison, Kyu Lee, Doug McEachern, Elizabeth Norman, David Spawn, and Tod Winston!

We were floored to see over 80 participants—many of them new to birding—make it out. Thank you to all who stayed afterwards to continue the celebration and camaraderie at Le Pain Quotidien. Birds DO have the incredible power to bring us together! We've compiled a photo album from the morning to help you relive the fabulous birds and conversations we shared.
