NYC Region Animal Hospitals and Rehabilitation Centers
A number of quality rehabilitators and hospitals are available to care for wounded birds and other wildlife in New York City and surrounding areas. While all of the listed rehabilitators will receive birds, many will also care for other wildlife. Please read the specific restrictions and requirements of each site carefully.
If you have found an injured bird in need of professional rehabilitation and are unable to take the bird to one of the rehabilitators below, call NYC Audubon at 212.791.7483 x312. NYC Audubon coordinates a volunteer group of injured bird transporters who (if available) will take injured birds in New York City to a professional rehabilitator. NYC Audubon's office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:30am-5:30pm. If you have found an injured bird and need assistance outside of NYC Audubon's office hours, please contact the Wild Bird Fund at 646.306.2862 or email rehabbers@wildbirdfund.org.

Urban Park Rangers
The Urban Park Rangers will pick up a bird if it’s in a New York City park. They are available for any birds other than pigeons and starlings, but higher priority is given to less common birds. For raptors, they will try to go outside of City parks, but resources are limited.

This is the last resort if all else fails.
This is the last resort if all else fails.
Will accept injured birds and contact a rehab person from the state list. Their field operators are only available to pick up animals 8am–8pm, 7 days a week and their prime responsibility is cats and dogs, not birds, so chances are they will not be able to help. Again, the CAC is a last resort if you can find no one else to help. They can take and transport migratory birds, but they do not respond for starlings, pigeons, seagulls and squirrels, although you can bring those to the shelter.
